How to Set Up Cross-Browser and Cross-Device Test Plans in ContextQA

Testing across different browsers and devices ensures your application works seamlessly for every user. In ContextQA, it’s easy to organize and run these tests by following a clear process to create a detailed test plan. This guide walks you through each step.

Open the Test Relevant Section

Navigate to the test relevant section in ContextQA.

Go to the Test Plan Section

Click on the test plan section.

Create a New Test Case

Choose an existing test case, or start fresh by adding a new one. Enter a test case name that describes your goal, like "Browser and Cross Device."

Add Your Test Suite

Head to the test machine and test suit section. Here, add your test suit. Select the test suit you want to use.

Select the Test Suit and Open Test Machine Section

Select your added test suit, then open the test machine section.

Add Browsers for Cross-Browser Testing

Enter a machine name for your browser testing. Start by adding browsers you want to test, starting with Chrome.

To add more browsers, hover over the test suit, click the button, then add a new machine for each browser.

Add each browser one at a time. For example, add three different browsers to cover a broad test range.

Add Devices for Cross-Device Testing

Select the test suit again and click the add machine and device button to create a new machine for device testing.

Choose your device platform. Use the drop-down to select mobile browser, then pick the device model, like a 700-pixel device.

Repeat this process to add additional devices, such as the iPhone 13.

Now, you’ll see both browsers and devices have been added for a complete cross-platform test.

Finalize and Create the Test Plan

Click the Next button to create your cross-browser and cross-device test plan.

You’ll see your newly created test plan listed with all browsers and devices included.
