Naming Conventions
Master Naming Conventions in ContextQA
Consistent naming is key to keeping your test library organized, searchable, and easy to maintain. ContextQA lets you name your test cases through three main methods—importing, recording, or manual entry. Here’s how to set naming conventions that help your whole team stay on track.
Import Test Cases with Naming Conventions
Click the plus icon, then select Import file.
Choose Import Requirement and pick My file.
Your file uploads, and you’re prompted to answer some requirement questions. Scroll down and select Skip and Generate Test cases.
Go to Import files to review your upload. Wait for test case generation (usually a couple of minutes).
Hit Refresh when the timer finishes.
Once done, click on your imported file.
If there are duplicates, you'll see them flagged. Otherwise, your test cases are named and ready to go.
Step 2: Generate Names through Test Case Recording
Click the plus sign, then select Start Recording.
Enter the target URL.
Click Create test case to begin capturing.
Choose Start Recording again.
Fill in your username and password fields.
Click login to capture your steps.
Click Stop recording when finished.
Refresh the page to see your new test case, automatically named.

Step 3: Name Test Cases Manually
Click to open manual creation. Then select Manually create a test case.

Give your test case a custom name.

For example, write Test case trial and select Create.

Stick to one consistent style for best results. ContextQA lets you mix naming styles, but uniformity helps avoid confusion as your library grows.

Consistent naming makes collaboration easier, keeps everything organized, and simplifies maintenance. Try these methods to see which works best for your workflow.
